This is a cool way to store sewing tools and supplies. Can hold a lot of stuff if you want to hold more all you need to do is add more corks to your stand. Corks were great because you stick your pins and needles in the cork for sturdy holding. Also since the corks are rounded they leave a gap in between leaving perfect gaps for pencils, pens, scissors, etc. Also you can glue the corks to the top of a mason jar lid and then attach the lid to the jar that you have your sewing fabrics and supplies in. The mason is nice because you can see inside to what you have and where it is. This requires few tools to make and pretty much free if you have corks laying around. Corks the same size worked the best for me. I used a hot glue gun to attach the corks together.
Step 1: Tools and Supplies
- corks 9 more if you want to make it bigger
Step 2: Glueing
i started by glueing to corks together with the hot glue gun and glue sticks. Keep in mind which part of the cork will be facing outward in the final product. Apply glue to one of the corks and take second cork and hold together on the glued area. Hold for about 10-15 seconds applying pressure. Make sure the bottoms are even and flat at the same level.
Once those are dried add a third cork to the two you already glued. Keeping in mind arain what will be facing the outside.
Do this with three sets of three corks each. On set will be in the middle so the outsides of the corks wont matter. Keep all the bottoms flat with each other.
Now take two of the set of three you glued and glue those together making six.
Let these dry and then take your last row of three and glue those to the six making a square of nine corks.
